According to an article in The Hindu, India’s national newspaper, the market for medical transcription in the U.S. is estimated at $20 billion—$40 million of which goes to India. One company, Cbay Systems, incorporated in the U.S., outsources 95% of its work to India, and is now the fourth largest transcription company in the United States. So far Cbay has raised $20 million from venture capitalists and equity investors, and is planning to raise another $25 million for its next round of big expansion in India. From The Hindu:

27. Talked to several advertisers offering training in MT. They want the same fees from all candidates. It does not matter to them if the student of medical transcription already knows something or not. I am not sure of the reason for this. Can any one explain plese?

31. We're a group of 6 MTs based in Chennai, South India, who have been doing HBT for the past 3 years or so, concentrating mainly on the following specialties and reports:
1. Psychiatry.
2. GI.
3. Orthopedics.
4. Psychiatric Evaluations and Discharge Summaries.
5. Operative reports.
6. H&Ps and Chart Notes.
